David Hug is a Swiss venture capital investor with more than 15 years of experience backing and supporting early-stage technology companies across Europe. He is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Marcau Partners AG and a Founding Partner of REALR, an early-stage venture capital fund investing in technology companies addressing some of society’s most fundamental challenges.
Throughout his career, David has backed two unicorns and one IPO, alongside numerous successful strategic exits. His investment track record includes companies such as GetYourGuide, About You, Foodspring, Faceshift, N-Dream, MOVU, with portfolio companies acquired by global leaders including Apple, Mars and Qualcomm. His track record also includes backing a company involved in the second largest European Start-up trade sale of 2019.
Before co-founding Marcau Partners, David invested in technology companies at Zürcher Kantonalbank Startup-Finance, b2ventures and Ecosystem Ventures in Silicon Valley. In addition to investing, he has served on numerous company boards and works closely with founders from first institutional funding through international scale-up and exit.
